Cliff Burton's 'Metallica' father revealed charity from his son's Royalty

Last year Metallica released a book containing memories about their band mates. One of the most remembered is Cliff Burton, the bassist who accompanied Metallica on his first three albums. Before being replaced by Jason Newsted.

Cliff Burton played on three albums KILL ‘EM ALL, MASTER OF PUPPETS, and RIDE THE LIGHTNING. However, after that Burton died on a tour in 1986. After his death the Burton family still received a royalty check on his behalf and the funds turned out to be used for good purposes.

Ray Burton, father of Cliff Burton, recently revealed this information through an interview with Podcast Alphabetallica. He revealed that he always used his royalty check to fund Castro Valley High School music school scholarships.

"Children who get scholarships always write and thank me, I think if Cliff is still there he will do it with his money because he is not at all opposed to education. He really likes it, "he said.

This 92-year-old man remembers that for the first time Cliff joined Metallica and returned with a royalty check of US $ 1500. Cliff invited Ray and his family to dinner at his favorite Sushi place in Hayward. Besides that, Cliff was getting more active and trying hard to buy a house for his parents.
